Spirometry Refresher and Update: April 11, 2001 Tuition: $195
This one day interactive program is designed as an update for those who have previously completed a NIOSH-approved spirometry course. Topics include an update of spirometry standards including American Thoracic Society Guidelines, Standardization of Spirometry - 1994 Update, technique and equipment standards review and advanced coaching tools. An emphasis will be placed on practical aspects of spirometric testing and making sense of spirometric results. Occupational Medicine Update: March 16, 2001 Tuition: $175
The twenty-first Annual Update will focus on understanding the new DOT examination in terms of assessing cardiac, neurologic, endocrine and respiratory problems related to sleep apnea. It will also include an opportunity to hear expert case reviews focusing on preplacement examination issues, as well as an update on infectious diseases.

About the the Center for Public Health Education and Outreach at the University of Minnesota:
Since 1977, the Midwest Center has actively served the Upper Midwest by offering core graduate training programs and continuing education in the field of occupational health and safety. This Education and Research Center is made up of a consortium of regional academic institutions which includes the University of Minnesota. The Midwest Center is part of the Center for Public Health Education and Outreach at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health. The educational programs of this Center are sponsored, in part, by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS).

Credit Information
– Physicians: The University of Minnesota is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
– Nurses: Our programs are designed to meet the requirements of the MN Board of Nursing for contact hours. Contact hours awarded by the Midwest Center are designed to meet American Board for Occupational Health Nurses, Inc. (ABOHN) requirements for certification.
– Physical Therapists: Application is made for select courses to the MN Board of Medical Practice for continuing education credit for physical therapists.
– Occupational Therapists: Select courses are designed to meet the standards for qualified continuing education activities for occupational therapists for contact hours.
